20230306-I'm Not ALL Doom and Gloom, You Know

I know this channel is devoted primarily to lighthearted rants about the passing scene, and the idiot powers that be, but I'm not ALL doom and gloom.

In fact, this weekend I read a really cool news story, about European scientists who claim to be nearing the resurrection of the Wooly Mammoth, extinct since the end of the last ice age.

The mammoth is genetically nearly identical to the Asian elephant, and the intent is to splice out the unique elephant genes, and splice in the unique mammoth genes, implant and BOOM, the Wooly Mammoth once again walks the Siberian tundra.

This is seriously cool, and bodes well for the resurrection, and preservation, of other extinct and endangered species.

It also opens up the possibility of eliminating some pretty dire genetic diseases.

Of course, it also creates the possibility of trying to genetically engineer a superman, and, umm, let's don't do THAT, mkay?
