The Masculine Blueprint: Baseline Male Physical Requirements

There are basic non-negotiable baseline physical requirements that every man should have. Being fit and strong affects everything you do and fundamentally changes your behavior, giving you confidence and gravitas based on reality - only you can do the work required. We use James Bond as an example of the modern male archetype and the definition of masculinity and overall general physical preparedness and ability. He has gravitas, command, is non-reactive, and in control. I discuss the importance of sustained effort and work to achieve your full potential, emphasising the importance of self-control and the need to do hard things to gain confidence through competence.

If you can't reach the standards, then you're failing - these are non-negotiable standards for adult males, period.

STRENGTH & CARRYING:

FARMERS' WALKS: 50% body weight in each hand and walk 30-50 m
PULL-UPS: 5-15
PUSH-UPS: 30
DEADLIFT: 150% body weight - IDEAL: 200% body weight
CARRYING: You need to be able to pick someone up and carry them for 100m, ideally 200m fireman carry, or similar.

AEROBIC BASELINE:

10km run - approx. 60 minutes
400m - approx. 60 seconds

Training and physical effort improve us - we gain self-knowledge, determination, develop grit and perseverance, and demonstrate to ourselves in real-time the simple fact that we can take reality as it is and turn it into something better through our own will and force of character.
