In the Italian language, there are two constructions using the verb "stare": "stare per + infinitive verb" and "stare + gerund." Although both of these constructions are based on the verb "stare," they have slightly different meanings and are used in different contexts.

The construction "stare per + verb in the infinitive" is used to express the imminence of an action or event. In other words, it indicates that something is about to happen or that one is about to do something. For example, "I am about to eat" means that I am about to eat or about to eat. Similarly, "We are about to leave" indicates that we are about to leave and that action is imminent.

On the other hand, the construction "stand + gerund" is used to indicate the action taking place at the time of speaking. In other words, it indicates that something is being done at that very moment. For example, "I am eating" means that I am eating at that moment and that action is taking place. Similarly, "We are walking" indicates that you are walking at that moment and that the action is currently taking place.

Importantly, the construction "stare + gerund" can also be used to indicate a planned or anticipated future action, such as "I am studying for tomorrow's exam." In this case, the construction "stare + gerund" indicates the future action, but the particle "for" is omitted.

In summary, the difference between the two constructions lies in the fact that "stare per + verb in the infinitive" indicates an action that is imminent or about to happen, while "stare + gerund" indicates an action that is in progress at the time of speaking. However, it is important to note that these constructions can also be used in different contexts depending on the context and meaning being expressed.
