After a great season as a freshman on varsity wrestling this year, @thomaslobliner has been working very hard on the mat with @younggunsnashville and at @legacyatcarbon . Today he broke the 300lb squat barrier on a high box squat at ~110lbs.

I have no doubt he will be contebding for state at whatever weight he lands at!

I usually load my athletes with exaggerated range of motion goblet squats on the slant board into an overloaded box squat set at or slightly above 90 degrees.

Box squats can be a safer variation of the traditional squat exercise for several reasons:

✅Consistent depth: When performing a traditional squat, it can be difficult to consistently hit the proper depth without sacrificing form. By using a box or bench, you can ensure that you are hitting the same depth with each repetition, reducing the risk of injury due to improper form.

✅Improved control: The use of a box or bench can help you maintain better control throughout the squat movement.

I’m a full ROM a guy, but there is a time and place for everything and developing this power will make him a much more explosive athlete!
