Dash-Cam Driving in Mexico » 57D from Mexico City CDMX to San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to drive in Mexico? Thanks to our trusty dash-cam, we can show you! This time, we're heading from Mexico City (CDMX) on the Mexican Federal Highway 57D (toll "cuota"), through the state of Querétaro, to San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. This drive usually takes about three hours, but due to multiple car accidents all at the same time along our route, it took us twelve hours!!! This is most likely due to the nature of car accidents in Mexico; the cars cannot be moved until all party's insurance adjusters arrive on the scene to make their decision. So three separate times, the three lane highways were at a complete standstill for many hours, as all the traffic tried to get into one lane, or the highway was blocked completely.

However! Arriving in San Miguel de Allende, bleary-eyed at 2am, driving down windy little streets that got more beautiful, and more narrow, as we got closer to our destination in the Centro Histórico, was an experience I'll remember for some time.
