Clipping a dog’s nails

This is my little Chihuahua, Tinker. Ever since they were puppies I read that you’re supposed to touch their feet often and get them used to lying on their back in your lap. You give them foot massages and just hold their paws any time you think about it. This gets them used to people touching their feet. So , that is what I did for my current puppies and with my previous dogs. I keep a little tub of shredded cheese next to my chair & each time I clip a mail, I give them a tiny piece of cheese. I used this process since they were little puppies and because of that, this is now how easy it is to clip my dogs nails. So pro tip for dog owners. When they are puppies, grab their paws often, massage their feet, hold each toe, get them used to being on their back on your lap to get belly rubs. Also very important, this will be the only time they ever get cheese. Now they get very excited for mail clipping b/c it means cheese time. Also, be very gentle and calm the whole time. If they get anxious, try again later. Never fuss. It needs to be a positive experience.
