Mayor Eric Adams lays out new mental health policies for NYC

"We were going after those with serious mental health illnesses that couldn't take care of their basic needs and were a danger to themselves. That is not the entire population, that's a small targeted group and it was inhumane to allow them to stay on the streets without proper care,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Sunday on CNN's 'State of the Union’.

He hopes to increase services for those dealing with mental illness on the streets rather than dispatching the police.
