These lyrics (minus the refrain) appear in a 1902 book by Charles August Keeler, titled, 'A Wanderer's Song of the Sea':

I suspect the words in the book are all made up by Charles but loosely fitted to sea shanties or sea songs he had heard.

Charles was quite the adventurer, and may well have been to South Australia soon before publishing this book:
