‘He fights for the people’: Trump the preferred nominee according to polls as CPAC kicks off

Former United States President Donald Trump will speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington in a few hours as Republican presidential hopefuls vie for the spotlight at the major gathering of conservatives.
Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo have made speeches advocating for the party’s presidential candidate while Trump is still well ahead of any other Republicans as the preferred nominee according to polls.
“He’s the fighter – he fights for the people,” a CPAC attendee said.
