The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred in East Baltimore, MD. The incident took place on Wednesday, February 8, after Baltimore Police attempted to stop a reported stolen black Hyundai Sonata in the area around North Patterson Park Avenue and East North Avenue. The Hyundai failed to stop, and officers pursued it to the intersection of North Wolfe Street and East North Avenue, where it collided with a sedan, striking a pedestrian who was standing on the sidewalk before crashing into a vacant row home. The driver of the Hyundai was taken into custody, while the occupants of both cars were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the pedestrian, 54-year-old Alfred Fincher of Baltimore, was pronounced dead on the scene. Officer Devin Yancy, a 4.5-year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department who responded to the area in a marked police car, was involved in the incident. It is worth noting that while Baltimore Police cruisers do not have dashboard cameras, the involved officers were wearing body-worn cameras
