Hogwarts Legacy: Who The Unspeakables Are

When Professor Hecat mentions being an Unspeakable, she refuses to elaborate - but curious players can learn more about this mysterious job. In Hogwarts Legacy , Professor Hecat reveals that she was formerly an Unspeakable, but what exactly does this mysterious title mean? As its name would imply (and as she quickly makes it known), speaking about this particular job is strictly forbidden. Unfortunately, this means that players won't get to learn much about who the Unspeakables are from the Defense Against The Dark Arts professor herself. However, there is some amount of extra information that can appease their curiosity for this piece of Harry Potter lore. Although her position as an Unspeakable arguably makes Professor Hecat the most interesting out of her colleagues, she isn't the only one to have worked for the Ministry of Magic before teaching at Hogwarts. Professor Sharp, who teaches potions, fought against the forces of dark magic as an Auror before an injury forced him to switch careers. Deputy Headmistress and Transfiguration Professor Matilda Weasley, who is related to Ron, worked as a Curse-Breaker. But while Sharp and Weasley are more open to discussing their previous Ministry jobs, Professor Hecat takes care not to reveal anything about Unspeakables or what they do in Hogwarts Leagacy. Hogwarts Legacy's Unspeakables Remain Mysterious Since all Unspeakables follow this same silent rule, the true nature of their job still remains largely a mystery across Harry Potter lore. However, a few crucial details have been leaked across the years, and they have some fascinating implications. For example, according to Albus Dumbledore, one of the most highly-guarded sects in the Department of Mysteries is the Love Chamber. Other known sects include the Thought Chamber, Time Chamber, and Death Chamber. It's unclear what sort of research happens behind closed doors, but judging from their titles, it looks as though Hogwarts Legacy's Unspeakables aim to harness the power behind some of the world's most complex concepts. Hogwarts Legacy: Why Unspeakables Can't Talk About Their Jobs In Harry Potter Lore Unfortunately, this is one thing that Hogwarts Legacy players won't find any additional information about during playthroughs, because even if Professor Hecat wanted to share more about her work as an Unspeakable, she would be severely punished for it. According to Harry Potter lore, he Ministry of Magic has put strict laws in place to avoid the outsourcing of information, and the penalties can vary greatly. Some Unspeakables who have tried to remove artifacts from the Department of Mysteries were ultimately stopped in their tracks by extremely powerful and harmful enchantments, which in some cases permanently affected their mental health. Others have gotten punishments as harsh as a life sentence in Azkaban. Given their cloudy reputation and their study of the world's biggest mysteries, it's only understandable that students might want to learn more about who the Unspeakables are and what they do in the Harry Potter universe. But unless they want Professor Hecat to visit Azbakan in Hogwarts Legacy , additional information doesn't seem likely. For now, players will need to use their imagination and fill in the blanks to determine who the Unspeakables are in Hogwarts Legacy .
