Volusia deputy uses de-escalation to arrest a suicidal man armed with a knife

This afternoon, deputies responded to a home on Old Kings Road, Daytona Beach, for a man who reportedly had attempted suicide by overdose. The man armed himself with a knife and refused requests to come out of the house.

After about 25 minutes of negotiation, a team of deputies with their sergeant and chief deputy were able to move in quickly and take the subject into custody without injury to anyone.
