SCS EPISODE 97. CAN WE FIX HEALTHCARE?
SCS EPISODE 97. CAN WE FIX HEALTHCARE?
This is the episode I had planned to do before the end of last year, but now I am going to book end my audit of DHSC with a suggestion as to how we can at least begin to fix the healthcare system.
It's not a fully detailed formal proposal, and I explain why, but it is an indication of the realities we need to face in terms of confounders and affordability.
I'll probably have to keep banging the drum of 'affordability', because I don't think most people have clue one what that means, and it so dependent on the foolish notion of costs always being someone else's problem. That's how you get debt. That's how you get increased levels of incompetence.
When Gerry Robinson was asked the question if he could fix the NHS, his final conclusion was that it needed to be taken out of Government hands. This is true, but in doing so, we ignore the numbers at our peril.
As my wider recreation of the Hoskyn's Government Wiring Map is all about recognising the interdependencies, cause and effect, and integration of each area of governance, I do start to show some of how this can be applied, through the proposals I have already made in terms of higher education.
The positive message I would give is that not only would my suggestion place responsibility in all our hands, but that we would have the challenge placed upon us and our children, whereby we get to create the standard of living and care that too many have been hoodwinked into believing existed already.
This idea and suggestion needs competent scrutiny, and additional solutions to make it work. That's where all of you come in.
