Reconciliation and Forgiveness - Can We Really Forgive When We Are Deeply Hurt - Social Psychology
In this lecture we will review the concept of Reconciliation and Forgiveness.
Reconciliation and forgiveness serves as a path to restore interpersonal relationships following destructive conflicts. It presents a contrast to focus on retribution emphasized in our society as the primary approach to understanding conflict resolution.
The wounds of interpersonal conflict often remain long after the offending interactions that hurt us have concluded. Most people remember painful memories of hurtful conflicts decades later.
Reconciliation and forgiveness are interpersonal conflict resolution processes, that arise from a mutual interest to come back together with those who have separated by serious conflict.
