The Oklahoma City Police has released bodycam footage of a hit-and-run, followed by a pursuit
The Oklahoma City Police Department has released bodycam footage of a hit-and-run, followed by a pursuit, that happened Feb. 26.
OCPD said officers and first responders were at the scene of a crash near Northwest Expressway and I-44 when another vehicle struck a police car, which in turn injured three emergency responders, before driving off.
One officer took off on foot to pursue the suspect, while another drove their patrol car to pick up the first officer and continue the pursuit.
OCPD said they were able to track down the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Rafael Chay, at an apartment near Northwest 46th Street and North Georgia Avenue and place him under arrest.
Chay was taken into custody under several complaints, including driving under the influence, driving without a license and leaving the scene of an injury crash.
The three emergency responders, one of which was an OCPD officer, sustained non-serious injuries, and were treated and released from the hospital, according to OCPD.
