I travel a lot for my work, and as most people on the autism spectrum feel when traveling, I dislike the disruption to my routines.

However I have created a system that works for me and is workable for most people on the autism spectrum when traveling with autism.

Here are my 3 top tips for traveling with autism.

1. The Internal Routine
Creating a routine in a suite case is what I call it. Basically create a routine where ever you are be it on a plan or a hotel room, so that you or the autistic person you are caring for can control something that they feel conferrable with. So with me, I wear a super comfy outfit on the plane and i get my iPad out and chill. I then make a small office space in my hotel room with my case next to me so i can have my morning routine

2. Brillia
Brillia is a homeopathic awesome little medicine that you can take to reduce anxiety and stress, I belive it is believe perfect for this type of situation.

3. Travel Plan Guide
As a family, and with your child create a travel plan of all the places you are going to go to and show pictures of the areas etc. Make it as a bullet list and an easy to see format with images.

4. BONUS TIP: Sensory Kit
I always travel with headphones that are noise cancelling, a pari of sunglasses and an iPad. These are all i need to be sensory calm and this can help reduce lots of sensory issues in the airport and or train etc.

If you have any thoughts I would love to hear them.
