When you start detoxing mercury, (and this is unique to mercury), you will feel better for a while, then feel worse for a while, and then start feeling better again. We call the time when you feel bad, "the dump phase."

The dump phase is caused by the equilibrium mechanism between the intracellular and extracellular mercury. When the mercury outside the cells is lower than the mercury inside, it will tend to move out into the bloodstream and give you symptoms.
