אנס שהודיע כי שינה את זהותו המינית לאישה והוחזק בתחילה בכלא המיועד לנשים...עמד במרכזה של מחלוקת בסקוטלנד. כעת בית משפט סקוטי גזר עליו 8 שנות מאסר והוא צפוי להיות מועבר לכלא גברים.
עם זאת, הפרלמנט הסקוטי אישר לפני מספר שבועות חוק שיקל על אנשים לשנות את המגדר שלהם, צעד שעורר ביקורת מצד פעילות לזכויות נשים הטוענות שגברים תוקפניים יכולים לנצל את החוק לרעה.
ממשלת בריטניה הודיעה שהיא תחסום את המהלך.
