City council meets to discuss affordable housing in Bakersfield

Homelessness affects residents of all ages in Bakersfield. More than a quarter of homeless people in the city are under the age of 24, including 161 people under the age of 18. On Tuesday, the Bakersfield City Council and other city officials held a special session to discuss homelessness and the lack of affordable housing in Bakersfield.
