Hurricane Hovers Over The Off Grid Project

Hurricane Arthur was hovering over my off grid homestead Thursday afternoon through most of the day Friday. It rained very hard and continuous through the whole night and day.

This is the third hurricane we had in Upstate NY in three years but it was the weakest as well. It only rained a lot this time.

When the storm hit at first some branches were knocked out of the trees and there was a lot of wind but then it settled into a constant steady rain.

Due to my fridge draining my RV battery bank I had to run the DC generator again for a while. I lost all power again. That fridge is a loss.

My battery bank has been quite low with all the rain too. We do not see the sun much around here. Its been mostly dark and cloudy if not outright raining.

During the rain I was getting 8 watts of solar power in mid day. That is nothing at all. Later the sun peeked out a bit and I hot 244 watts. Still nothing to dance about but it helps some.

The good news is that my solar panels are back online and working again. The batteries will recover and top off when the sun comes back out for a day.

I did not get much work done outside at all due to the constant rain so I worked on the computer a lot. I am updating The Off Grid Project website.
