Indie developed, horror survival game by Endnight - originally known as SKS Games. Built around and inspired by cannibal horror films from the 70’s and 80’s such as Cannibal Holocaust and from games like Minecraft and Don't Starve where players have untethered freedom but also the consequence of choice. What's going on everyone? Sharpie here and today we are talking about The Forest!

The Forest scratches that ‘so hard to reach place’ of horror survival and open world. The stark minimalist design and lack of intrusion in combination with the emphasis on ambience and immersion is in my opinion, perfectly executed. Endnight leaves it up to you to piece together the story and uncover the history and lore versus having it all talked to you via endless filler dialogue; something that I welcome whole heartedly!

The Forest has everything you need! It's got the horrors that will scare the hell out of you. It's got the crafting system down pat, it's got the building system if you want to make tree forts. It's got tons of cannibals and mutants to destroy in plenty of creative ways. It's got VR and co-op is a friggin 'hoot! It's also buggy, broken, and at times basically unplayable. Yet with all its flaws, I had a blast playing it, enough to 100% it, so that's saying something. The Forest is very entertaining, and highly worth checking out if survival horror is up your alley.
