Installing Tiny Home Radiant Barrier Kitchen Walls And An Oak Window Sill S22
Friday afternoon John came over and we worked on the radiant barrier, the kitchen walls and the first window sill of my tiny house.
I first cut up some furring strips out of the scrap lumber I have laying around and John used them to put an air gap all along the wall. This will be the air gap between the radiant barrier and the insulation behind it. This will keep the summer heat outside of my tiny house on wheels.
I worked on stripping staples and boards out of the OSB sheats that I got for free from the small engine shop. These had been used one time for shipping crates to hold new lawn mowers and equipment.
After working the staples out I cut the sheets down to size to fit the kitchen walls. By the end of the day I had the kitchen mostly covered in OSB while John had the furring strips ready for the radiant foil.
Together we covered the entire North facing living room wall with radiant bubble wrap foil.
When that job was done we still had a little bit of daylight so we worked on the front window in the living room. Using the table saw I cut out my own pieces to fit around the window perfectly. These filled in the holes between the window and the wall, bringing it flush with the paneling.
Then John and I ran a piece of oak 2x6 through the thickness planer to take off the dirt and aged exterior. This revealed a fine looking piece of wood inside.
We cut the notches to fit into the window sill and held all the pieces in place to see how it looked. It is perfect.
Later I will fasten these in place and sand and polish the window sill.
