Using Reclaimed Barn Wood In My Tiny Home Construction

I have been working with the old barn wood that I got for free. I found a beautiful old 6x6 beam of solid oak that I wanted to use for my loft support.

I used a chain saw to rough cut it down to size and then used a speed square to mark where I wanted to cut it. Amazingly I used my chain saw to cut it nearly perfect and square.

It was a bit of a job to get this beam into the tiny house on wheels but I finally got it into place under the supporting beam of my loft. This is centered under the catwalk and dead center in the tiny house on wheels.

I used a block of wood and a hammer to pound my reclaimed barn beam into place under the tiny house loft. Then I used a level to make sure it was all plumb and straight.

I love how this rough cut old oak barn wood beam looks in my tiny house. This is the look I wanted when I started building my tiny home.

I also worked on my weather station a bit. My old netbook is the weather station server. I did not have enough power for a while so I could not have the weather station online anymore.

Now that my new batteries are charged up somewhat I can have the weather station online full time again.

As it was getting dark out I stepped up my pace a bit because I still wanted to get a reclaimed barn wood book shelf on my wall. I pulled out a 2x7 piece of lumber and a 2x4 which will be my book shelves in the tiny house.

I cut them both down to 8 feet in length and then swept them off outside to get the dirt off.

Then I had a coffee break while I considered exactly where the new recycled barn wood book shelf will be on my tiny house wall.
