Construction Begins Again On The Tiny House On Wheels
Saturday it rained all day and all night so I worked inside on the computer. Sunday was a mix of rain and snow. But Monday construction on the tiny house started again.
I spent most of the day Monday cleaning up around the property. The wind blows things around, tears things up and makes a general mess of things. Then the snow covers it all up until spring.
Spring cleaning takes on a whole new meaning when you have 55 MPH winds at times during the winter months.
I had a half of a salmon that I bought last time I was shopping. It was on discount and so good. I cooked it up with potatoes and shallots. After it was cooked I put some raw garlic on top to get the valuable nutrients from it. Plus the full flavor. It was a very good meal. I used the propane cook top because the wood stove was damped right down due to the warmer weather outside.
I started work on the outside of the tiny house as well. I hope to get the pallet wood siding on the tiny house soon so I got out my gorilla tape and taped up one of the seams in the tar paper. I cant find anything else that will stick to tar paper without coming off later.
I then nailed the seams down so that the tar paper does not peel up and pull the tape off. After 6 months of wind, sun and weather the tar paper is doing fine. It just curled up at the seams on the south side a bit. I want to cover and seal all the seams so that carpenter ants do not enter through and form colonies between the tar paper and the exterior sheathing of the tiny house on wheels.
Carpenter ants are horrible and will move into a tight, cozy space like that in no time. The RV has been infested with a carpenter ant colony since the day I got it and I cannot eradicate them fully. They live inside the walls and in the framing of the RV.
I dont want to have this happen to my tiny house. Carpenter ants are very plentiful out here in the woods.
I will let this sit a few days and see how it holds up to the weather. If it holds well then I will tape off the rest of the seams and then put on my pallet wood siding on my tiny home.
I staked out the area where my greenhouse/porch will be. It is going to span the front of the tiny house and wrap around the back bumper side.
The greenhouse will be 34 feet long by 10 feet wide with a 10 x 10 foot room on the back of the tiny house. The small room will house my batteries and water tanks. Later it will also hold some fish for my aquaponics system.
