Busy Sunny Day At The Off Grid Solar Homestead

It was a warmer and sunny day at the off grid solar homestead. I used the warm weather to try and get my solar forklift battery over to the tiny house on wheels.

It was also a nice sunny day which was great for solar panel output. My solar panels were pumping power into the old sulfated forklift battery bank. This gave me more of a push to attempt to get the good forklift battery over to the tiny house so it can start charging properly.

I did a walk around the chickens to show how I care for them. They get fresh bedding as needed. The other day you saw compressed but clean bedding. I keep it clean and changed often. Of course it gets compressed after a few days of use though. But it was clean. I use the TSC pine shavings for my chickens. I was using leaves but since its all under snow and ice now that is not an option now.

I have a heated dog water dish also from TSC which keeps the chicken water from freezing. It only uses 50 watts of power so a simple solar panel and battery can keep the water from freezing. I unplug it during the night though to conserve power. The chickens are sleeping then so it does not need to be warmed.

I get all natural chicken feed also from TSC. This is natural and hormone free chicken feed. I figure that I eat the eggs and I will eventually eat the birds as well so I want them to be well fed and clean birds. No chemicals or artificial filth for my chickens.

The chickens also get table scraps and bread ends as they are available. They are the off grid homestead garbage disposal for anything out of the kitchen. Nothing goes to waste here. Then the chicken waste gets put into the garden. A perfect circle of nature.

I finally got my internet fixed so I am uploading a lot of videos recently. I am putting up two or three videos per day to catch up. I also ordered a second DSL line so I can put up the wireless IP cameras full time on the internet for the World to see.

The IP cameras double as entertainment for my viewers and also security for my home. What better security than 50,000 viewers around the clock watching my homestead.

I keep a large pot of water on the wood stove 24/7 to add humidity to the air in the tiny house. This keeps it around 20 - 30 percent humidity which is comfortable and safe levels for myself and my house.

I cut another small tree to heat my tiny house with. This will last me about a day and a half. I just keep cutting a bit of wood at a time for this year as needed. Next year I will have a nice stock pile of seasoned wood for my tiny house wood stove. But for now I just cut the barn wood and dead standing trees for my off grid tiny home heat.
