Assembling Harbor Freight 1 Ton Hydraulic Engine Hoist In The Rain

I brought home the Harbor Freight 1 ton hydraulic engine hoist which is actually made by Pittsburgh Automotive. This engine hoist seems like a very good quality product at first glance. All the parts are made of rugged, thick metal and it is quite heavy. This thing is so heavy it comes in two separate packages.

It was pouring rain outside when I put this together but I had to get it done right away because I need to get my forklift battery off the bed of my truck. I have a 2,000 pound used forklift battery which I will use for off grid solar power. But I need to lift each battery cell out of the metal case one at a time.

This hydraulic crane has one of the better instruction manuals. It is very simple to put together though but good instructions sure help a lot. My only complaint is that I found no quantities on the list of screws in the box.

This is a very rugged tool and each piece is solid and heavy.

Even though it got dark out early I still managed to get this engine hoist assembled. I had to fire up the Harbor Freight 800 watt generator to run an LED worklight so I could keep going in the dark but it turned out well enough.

I got totally soaked through while working but it was not too cold out so it did not bother me.

I cant wait to start using this new Harbor Freight engine hoist on my forklift batteries.
