Spring Flowers & Gardening At The Off Grid Homestead

I have been working a bit in the herb garden around the huge boulders in front of my tiny house. And also trying to keep my organic fruit trees alive. There is now and invasion of canker worms devouring everything in sight.

On the weekend I got a weed eater for only $3. It is a Sears Craftsman two way week wacker. It is a blower and weed trimmer in one. But for the price I did not hesitate.

Only problem is that it would not stay running. I was able to trim just a little bit around the edge of the electric fence before it gave out and stalled for good. It was sputtering and would not idle at all. I figure I need to clean out the carburetor to get it running properly. That is common with second hand power tools.

I also fired up my struggling lawn mower and cut a path to my work shop camper out back. The ticks are very bad and literally every day I get at least one on me. I have to keep the grass down to protect myself. The mower soon stalled out as well and needs a carb cleanout.

I planted some Thai Basil, Garden Sage and some normal Basil in my rock garden bed. I will spread some mulch around them soon as well.

I moved the larger Silkies from the small chicken tractor over to the larger chicken range. They were getting too large for the chicken tractor which was meant for the Bantams anyway.

They Silkies are not happy right now but they will soon settle in and enjoy the larger range.
