Repaired A Free Snow Blower For My Off Grid Homestead

In summer I got two free snow blowers. One was a huge self propelled beast that needed a lot of work and the other a 2 cycle little thing. I had hoped to save up and repair the beast but now winter is here and the snow is hitting in force so its time to get the little guy going.

It was not running when I got it so I was not sure if I was wasting my time or not. Another reason I never worried about it until now. The other reason is that it has not yet really snowed much until recently.

I had to clean the gas tank because it had horrible smelling brown junk in it that used to be gas.

Then I put a tiny bit of gas in the carb directly and pulled the starter handle. It fired up and burnt the fuel. Good sign of life.

Next I removed the carburetor and cleaned it out. This was the easiest carb cleanout I ever did. It just had some gooey stuff in the bottom and I wiped that out. Then I sprayed the jets with carburetor cleaner and put it all back together.

I also shortened the rubber primer tube because the end was ruined and rotted. I cut off the rotted part and reattached it to the carburetor.

After putting some gas in the tank this old snow blower fired right up on the first pull. I am quite amazed and surprised to see that. It runs like a new machine. I dont think this ever saw much use in its life actually because it is in such good shape. The old gas in it was most likely from its first season.

I was able to use my new snow blower to plow out paths around my off grid homestead. I made a path up to the solar panels and wind turbine so I can better access them to clean off future snow.

I also blazed a trail out to the work shop camper way out in the back of the meadow.

Later I took out Baby Cat to explore the new pathways and trenches in the homestead. She had a fun time running around and smelling things.
