Researching Best Off Grid Solar Batteries For The Off Grid Project ™

I do not have much video today because I have been researching the best batteries for off grid solar application. I have been studying up on batteries for about three months now but I have spent large amount of time on the subject in the last few days.

TechMan1219 from YouTube has told me that he was tired of watching me struggle with my old bank of golf cart batteries and wanted to get me a new battery bank. He told me to find the best thing for my situation.

I have learned that golf cart batteries are considered beginner batteries for off grid living. The next step up for most off grid solar homes is to get L16 batteries. These batteries were originally intended for commercial use in pallet jacks and floor buffers. They are rugged and can take some abuse. But they are quite expensive for their capacity.

The top of the line for off grid solar powered homes though is forklift batteries. The problem with a forklift battery is that they weigh between 1,000 and 2,000 pounds. Most people do not have the ability to move such a heavy mass around at home.

If you can get a forklift battery for your off grid solar powered home then you have a battery which can last you many, many years. I have read about off grid homes which have forklift batteries in service for 20 years or more.

I will have a forklift battery for the off grid homestead soon.

Thank you TechMan1219
