Connecting My Tiny House Rain Water Collection System

Now that my first flush rain water diverter is finished, it was time to put the entire tiny house rain water collection system together.

I got some PVC pipes to make an elbow connector for the down spout on the side of my tiny home.

I glued the parts together and let them cure.

Then I assembled the entire tiny home rain water collection system from the roof to the cistern tanks.

The rain water comes off the roof of the tiny house, flows through the down spout. Then takes a 90 degree turn before flowing into the first flush diverter. Any debris or heavier particles will settle into the first flush diverter as the water tank in the diverter fills up with water.

When the water level gets to the top of the first flush diverter then rain water will be allowed to flow to my water storage tanks.

I do plan to put another filter in the system before the water tanks to eliminate all debris and filth from entering the water tanks.

I mounted the rain water first flush diverter on a 2x4 frame that I put together for this purpose. The frame is screwed onto the side of the tiny house on wheels.

I finished connecting all the pipes together and then used the flex pipe to connect the rain water collection system to the water storage tanks.

The flex pipe fit like a glove. I was so surprised to see this. It is like the parts were made for one another.

My rain water collection system is complete.

Now all I have to do is tie in more water storage tanks and remove the little tank I had been using for testing the plumbing in the tiny house.

Then I wait for rain.
