I explain a bit more about the future expansion for the chicken range and the reasons for it. Plus talking about my plans for farming and selling some homemade pallet wood products and home grown produce from the off grid homestead.

I have a horrible tick problem here at the off grid homestead. The ticks are so bad that literally every time I walk across the lawn or into the woods I get at least one tick on me. My friends are reluctant to visit me during the high tick season.

ManOfMany Thingz just did a video talking about how he wants to come visit but is afraid to take home ticks to his daughter.

Trucker Buck has a new baby and a young son and he is also reluctant to visit due to the ticks.

I have found that the safest place in the entire homestead is inside the chicken range and the garden, which the chickens basically surround. Ticks will go after the chickens and the chickens will eat anything that moves.

So I plan to put up chicken fence around the entire meadow and let the chickens free range inside the area. The fence will extend into the woods a bit on all sides to allow the chickens to keep the area clean of ticks and other insects.

The chickens will be in buffet heaven and they will keep out the ticks from my meadow.

I plan to use the trees in the woods to support my fence and cut down on cost. The chicken fence will be inside the trees facing into the meadow. The electric fence will be low to the ground on the outside and that should keep out predators which can kill the chickens.

I also talk about some future plans for the off grid homestead and for raising some money.

My landlady owns the prime corner lot in town. It is currently empty and unused. It is on the intersection of two main roads where all the traffic from surrounding villages pass through. This is prime real estate and ti is unused. She will let me use it very cheaply for sales of home grown produce and homemade products.

I plan to sell food, chickens, eggs, maple syrup and homemade pallet wood products on that corner in the future.

I am hoping to make pallet wood furniture such as tables and chairs. Plus things like letter holders, spice racks, bird houses and more. I can sell these things weekends on the corner lot in town.

I think this will greatly supplement my income and push me forward a lot more on the path to self sufficiency.
