Patch Up Leaking Fuel Line In A Garden Tractor Quick & Easy

The fuel line on my Simplicity Garden Tractor was leaking under the chassis and it was hard to reach. So I figured out a quick and easy way to patch it up using an inline fuel filter.

I could not reach the fuel line to easily replace the entire thing. This would have been a major operation. There was a small pinhole leak where it was fastened to the bottom of the garden tractor and rubbed through during the years.

I simply used a sharp carpet knife to cut the fuel line at the leak. Then I shoved an inline fuel filter in place. This essentially plugs up the leak and also gives me a fuel filter which was needed anyway.

To replace the entire hose would have been a nightmare. I would have had to remove the fuel tank to get to the one end. Then the hose runs through the body, along the frame, up through the body again, through the engine shroud and up around the engine.

The fuel filter did the job and I had my garden tractor running again literally in minutes.

I used a plastic zip tie to fasten the fuel filter in place to keep the fuel line from rubbing on anything or snagging on objects as I drive around.

Hope this helps someone some day.
