Putting The Roof On My Off Grid Sugar Shack

I am using barn wood planks and wood pallets for the roof of my sugar shack. I am building a maple syrup boiling shack out in the woods on my off grid homestead out of pallets.

The idea is to be able to boil maple sap into maple syrup without the wind, debris or rain messing with me like previous years. I tried to boil maple syrup in the past out in the open but it does not work so well with the bad spring weather.

So I am building this sugar shack to house my maple syrup evaporator in. This will protect it from the elements this year.

This pallet wood shack will also double as a smoke house in the fall for smoking and preserving meats and fish. I will keep my commercial grade smoker in the pallet wood shed as well.

I am using scrap barn wood 2x6 lumber for rafters. Then I am putting 6 foot x 4 foot pallets on top of the frame. This works out nicely as a heavy duty framework for a roof.
