Suntactics Portable Folding USB Solar Panel First Impressions

I have the Suntactics folding solar panel that I am trying out at the off grid homestead. This is a comparison test to see if their claim that this is the best folding portable solar panel is true.

This is a 5 volt portable USB solar panel which can charge small devices like cameras, phones and tablets. It is rated at 14 watts of power at 5 volts.

It has two USB output ports so you can charge two devices at a time.

The interesting thing about this particular portable USB solar panel is that it has a manual and an automatic port. The manual port is just like any other solar panel output. But the automatic port is like no other I have seen.

In a standard USB output If a cloud passes over or something blocks the sun for a second then with most USB solar panels your device display is turned on when the power is broken to the device. Then when power is restored the device display turns on again. This can cause a lot of wasted energy and actually discharge your device in the long run.

The automatic mode causes an internal reset and waits five minutes before connecting power to your device again. This prevents all the turning on and off of the device display. The company claims that this is more efficient and reduces wasted energy. I will find out.

I put my cell phone on to charge. It was overcast the entire day so this would be a test to see if it even charges at all. Most portable USB solar panels will not even charge my phone at all when it is overcast.

The phone was at 48 percent when I started. About three hours later it was at 79 percent. This is impressive because normally I would not have had any charge at all with other solar panels. Even my home solar panels were not putting out much power to be useful on this day.

I will be using this solar panel in the coming days and weeks and do a full review when I am finished.

Thank you Suntactics for this solar panel. http://suntactics.com

This is not a paid commercial. I will receive no money for this video. This is my honest review of a product I received to try out.
