How To Make Your Own Paper @ The Zero Waste Fair

At the Zero Waste Day fair Gia gave me an awesome demonstration on how to make your own paper using pulp from scrap paper. You can recycle your own paper. For grid down or survival scenarios this is a good skill to have.

Gia demonstrated how they have soaked some shredded paper in a tub of water. This would have taken hours, or even better, days to soak.

Next you make a square frame out of wood and staple on some window screen or other fine mesh.

Scoop the screen into the tub of pulp to get a nice coating of paper pulp on it.

Next take some cloth and press down firmly on the paper pulp, squeezing the water out. The screen allows the water to run out of the pulp freely.

Now you can carefully remove your new homemade paper from the screen and lay it out to dry.

This is normal paper which can be used just like writing paper. For survival this is good for map making or taking notes.
