The Off Grid Project Dealing & Trading & Working & Shopping

This was a mixed day. A bit of an update on Melanie and some questions answered. Trading and dealing in small engines. Crazy Christmas weekend drive to town for small engine tools. And more.

I take you with me this day to see what an average day consists of. I am not just sitting at home all day but rather I am very involved with community out here on the off grid homestead.

People helping people is what it is all about.

In the morning we had our first snow on the ground. It snowed on and off all day but the snow did not stick. It remained very cold all day though and never got out of the 30s.

I answered some questions I keep seeing in the comments again and again. I try to answer them all but I see the same questions every day. Recently I did a video about Melanie but I guess not everyone has seen it yet.

I want to get my large snow blower running before the real snow hits. We are deep into winter now and I need to get this thing running asap.

I have spent two days looking for my small engine rebuilding tools but I cant find them. I have not done a valve job in about 6 years or so and I cant find my valve spring compressor and my valve lapping set.

Time is money so I decided to stop wasting time looking for my tools and just ordered new ones online.

I found a Sears Craftsman brand valve spring compressor at Sears and paid for it online. Then I had to drive over to get it.

This was the hard part. I did not realize this was the weekend before Christmas and the traffic was madness. It literally seemed like everyone wanted to crash into my car. People drove without looking. It was odd. It was dangerous.

It took me about 30 minutes to find a parking spot at Sears. Then another 40 minutes inside to get my part.

Next was a 30 minute drive to get the valve lapping tool only 3.7 miles away according to the GPS.

I had lunch in the car and headed out of town for the home area.

But I was not going straight home though. My neighbor who has the small engines for me all the time had a deal for me to go look at so I went to his place.

On the way it was snowing really hard. It snowed big, fluffy flakes.

When I got back to the property, I grabbed my Ryobi reciprocating saw and went to repair the door of my ex land lady. I had built the door but the floor underneath was rising a bit each year. So I cut off a little bit of the door so it could close better.

Bushnell sent me new game cameras to replace the defective ones I had before. The old ones are discontinued I think. They sent me some very nice cameras which I had hoped to get set up right away. But I ran out of time and had to get this video processed before bed.
