Fencing Materials Arrived & Chicken Fence Project Begins

I have all the parts for my extended chicken range together now. I had ordered the chicken wire but it was not available and suddenly I found a better deal. Now I have the chicken wire and all the materials for the entire electric fence to protect the chickens from predators.

I ordered 1500 feet of chicken wire. These are 6 foot high rolls at 150 feet long each. I got ten rolls of it. This will be enough to encircle the entire meadow and also protect my garden from the chickens.

I also have all the materials for the entire electric fence to protect the chickens from predators. I got a new electric fence controller because the old one was getting quite weak. At TSC they said that if the old one does not knock my socks off me then it is quite weak.

I also got 3/4 mile of electric fence wire. I already have about 1/2 mile of wire strung up around the yard that I can reuse for the new fence project.

I have enough hardware for three gates to get in and out of the property at various points around the meadow. This is important to make my work out here easier. I dont have to drive all the way around through the woods all the time I want to do something.

I have a lightning isolator to protect the new solar electric fence controller as well.

I got a box of 50 fiberglass electric fence posts which I will use where the trees are too far apart. I also have insulators to attach the electric fence to the trees.

I have pound in staples to attach the chicken wire firmly to the trees.

In the afternoon I went out with my chain saw to start cutting down trees. First I cut the path for a driveway around the outside of the fence line to access the barn wood pile and for my friend to get to his camper that is stored out there.

Next I started to cut around the line where the fence will be. I have to remove all the smaller trees near the fence so that raccoons cannot jump from tree to tree and skip over my electric fence to get to my chickens.

This job is huge and will take me about two weeks I figure to get it all done.

I want to thank everyone again for the support. Thank you to all who helped make this possible. And think you all for watching.
