Amazing Teenager Building An Off Grid Getaway

Today I did something different. I had a video skype chat with a fellow YouTuber. Dan is a high school student who was inspired to go off the grid and turned his back yard playground into an off grid getaway.

He calls it his off grid man cave.

Dan has been building up his off grid playground for a while now. He makes quite a few videos with regular updates on the progress of his little off grid place.

He has taken an otherwise unused playground and turned it into an off grid experiment.

Dan is inspiring in that he is still in school but took initiative and went ahead with solar power. He now has the knowledge to take his own home off the grid when he graduates. This is pretty awesome considering that most people his age are out partying and dont even think about the future.

Dan has about 300 watts of solar panels, over 400 amp hours of batteries and a pure sine wave inverter. He run an air conditioner in summer and a heater in winter. He is working on controlling the climate and keeping out the elements of his little get away.
