Raccoon Eating Chicken Feed So I Am Electrifying The Feed Bin

With the raccoon attacking my chicken feed bin two nights in a row I decided to connect the electric fence hot wire to the chicken feed bin.

This was a simple task but first I had to figure out a way isolate the metal feed bin from the ground. Otherwise the metal bin would be a direct short to ground and short out the entire electric fence.

I thought about trying an old car tire. There are plenty of them laying around in the woods. So I wheeled one over but it was too big. So I pulled out another smaller one and it was a perfect fit. The metal can sits right on top of the rubber tire, insulating it from ground.

Next I ran a piece of electric fence wire from the electric fence to the chicken feed bin.

The last thing to do was to get out the electric fence tester and try it out. Yup, it works.

I dont think the raccoon will mess with my chicken feed again.
