Sealing Tiny House Windows & Door With Great Stuff Spray Foam

It was a nice, warm, sunny day so I took the time to spray foam sealant around my tiny house windows, door and other openings to the outside to prepare for winter.

I was waiting for a warm fall day so I could have the windows open and let the air flow through the tiny house to take away the fumes from the curing spray foam. I waited for fall so that the insects would not be so bad. In summer if I opened the windows my house would be loaded with bugs. I have no window screens yet on most of my windows since I got them second hand.

I got a good deal on Great Stuff spray foam sealant so I had some cans on hand for the task already.

The kitchen window was first. I have to seal the gaps around the windows so I can finish the trim before winter. I want to have a cozy, nice place for Melanie to live in when she gets here.

Next I sealed around the tiny house door between the door frame and the house framing.

Then came the bathroom window as well.

The hole where the propane hose enters the tiny house was next. This took a bit of foam to seal off both inside and out. Now there will be no drafts and heat loss from my tiny home.

Under the bathroom I sealed around the shower drain outside the tiny house on wheels.

It got even warmer out as I worked. The high was 80 degrees here at the off grid homestead. This is so strange because the previous day we had a low of 20 degrees which killed off my garden for good.

My solar panels were producing some power but with the sun lower in the sky and the leaves still on the trees I am not getting direct sun. When the leaves drop off the trees I will be producing a whole lot more power in my tiny home. Late September to Late October is always the worst time of the year here at the off grid homestead.

The spray foam sealant worked well and expanded very nicely once it was cured. I will let it sit a few days and then trim the excess off so that I can finish the trim around the windows and doors of my tiny home.
