John & I Finish Framing Off Grid Shed Roof

John and I finished framing the off grid battery shed roof. This shed will house the solar battery bank and my rain water tanks. The shed will be insulated to protect the batteries and water from freezing in the winter.

It rained last night and my 40 gallon tank was full to overflowing. The rain collection system is working well and filled the tank in no time. When I removed the hose from the tank, water poured out of the hose leading up to the rain gutter. The water had filled up to where I had not glued the rain gutter down spout and then had leaked out from there.

I have to get the large 275 gallon tank moved into the shed asap and start collecting some serious rain water.

We had to cut pieces to fit in between each rafter for support of the sheet metal roofing and to keep the rafters from flexing and twisting with time.

This took us a while because the wood we are using is warped and twisted from age. The rafters had to be forced into their proper shapes. The cross bracing helped do just that.

Again my framing nailer was very useful for the job. I am so happy to have this time saving tool.

The shed is being built behind my off grid tiny house on wheels but it will be free standing. If I ever need to move the tiny house I simply pull it away and go. The shed will remain in place. I can put it on a trailer to move it if needed.
