Soon My Chickens Will Be Free Ranging

Chris and I finished putting up some temporary chicken wire so that I can let the chickens free range finally. The wire will eventually be replaced by pallet wood picket fencing but for now I want the chickens out and free asap in order to save me on food costs.

I want to keep the chickens out of the garden and rock flower beds so I have to fence off this area before I let the birds out.

The pallet wood picket fence is looking beautiful but it is taking too long to get the wood ready. I need newer and better pallets in order to finish it faster.

And I am waiting on some more stakes to hold them in place. Should be here in a couple days. Then I can finish the pallet wood picket fence.

Chris and I drove some 7 foot tall metal T posts into the ground to hold the chicken wire. Then we unrolled the wire and fastened it to the posts from the garden all the way back past the tiny house to the fence behind it.

This will block the chickens from getting through on this side. I may end up keeping the fence on this side if it looks good. But the picket fence on the other side is a must due to the fact that this is the first thing someone will see when they arrive at the off grid homestead.
