Building A Pallet Wood Storage Rack In My Off Grid Wood Shop

I used some free pallets to build a wood storage rack in my off grid solar powered wood shop. This will hold boards up to 4 x 8 sheets below and long boards and loose wood above.

I used some free pallets from the small engine shop. These were single use crates built to hold small engine equipment.

I get them free as they unload equipment each year.

Three of these pallets screwed together make a nice frame to hold the OSB sheets I also got from the small engine shop.

I put some boards on top that will be the frame for the top shelf. Then a sheet of OSB on that for strength.

Two boards cross one another in the back end to add stability and stop sway from side to side.

This was quite a project in the heat and humidity. It has been the hottest and most humid week of the year. The temperatures have been near 100 with near 100 percent humidity.

But I got the pallet wood storage rack done.

This will be a solar powered workshop using solar panels, batteries and a power inverter. The sun will provide power to run LED lighting and charge my Ryobi battery powered tools as needed.

Any larger power tools will have to be powered by a generator.
