Back To Work At The Off Grid Homestead

I am feeling much better today so I am back to work at the off grid homestead. It was snowing, then sunny, then cloudy today but the solar battery bank is topping off anyway.

I started out the day with a bit of an overview of the batteries and solar power. I had to sweep snow off the solar panels after it finally stopped snowing.

I was getting about 100 watts of solar power from my 600 watts of solar panels at lunch time today. The reason for this is not due to any problem in my hardware but rather the lack of full sunlight during the winter days.

I am in a meadow and the sun is below the trees for most of the day. This reduces the amount of full sunlight that reaches my solar panels each day. I get about 2 to 3 hours of full, direct sunlight per day on my solar panels. The rest of the time, the sun is filtered through the trees.

I worked upstairs in the tiny house a bit cleaning and sorting the book shelves. Melanie will be here soon and I want to have the place looking nice for her.

I ran out for supplies this afternoon. This is the first day I have been back on my feet since I got sick.

My sister sent me a video surveillance set which has an 8 channel DVR and 4 night vision security cameras. This is a professional system which will alert me when someone or something passes in front of the camera. No matter where I am in the World, I will get an alert on my cell phone and can immediately check the cameras remotely. Thank you Danielle.

My friend Bryan sent me a Birthday package with a DVD and a nice bug book. This will help me know what is friend or foe in the garden this year.

Thanks for watching. Please Subscribe & follow my daily videos.
