Tiny House Porch Work And Helping A Friend

Working on the off grid tiny house porch. I am hoping to finish this project soon and have a bench and shelves inside it.

In the morning I took Melanie to stay with some friends for the day. She is getting to know people in the area as well as me so that she is not alone here.

When I got home my neighbor called and needed help with his truck again. He is trying to replace the clutch in his truck but does not have the right tool to remove the bearing. We went to town to rent a tool for the job. While there we had lunch and went to the bakery.

At the bakery I often get older bread on a deep discount. A bag of bread goes for a couple dollars. I got two huge bags of bread for a total of $3. There were also some nice donuts in the package. They were still good. Sometimes we get something nice and share them.

The older, hard bread goes to the chickens. The birds love the stuff and cluck happily when they get their bread treats.

I finally got to work on the porch again and finished up the sheathing on the side wall. This firmed up the porch a lot. It still wobbles a bit because it is resting on cement blocks. I may eventually anchor it somehow.

I then mounted the screen door properly on the outside of my porch. I attached a new strike plate to allow the door latch to catch and securely close. It works very nicely and easily.

It really feels good to have this project nearing completion.

Next I built a bench inside the porch for people to sit and take their shoes off. Inside the off grid tiny home we do not wear outside shoes. This protects the floor from wear and keeps the dirt out.

We take off our shoes on the porch and then step in with clean feet into house shoes. The new bench will make this so comfortable.

I still want to build shelves on the other side to store our shoes but it was getting dark and quite late in the evening so it was time to go inside and work on this video.
