Rain Filled Water Tanks ~ Super Rain Water Tank Deal ~ Processing Deer
It rained hard and my off grid water storage tanks filled up fast. I am working on a deal to get more water tanks for my off grid tiny house on wheels.
In the evening before, I pulled out the rest of the deer carcass and finished stripping off the meat from the bones. I am going to make jerky out of the entire deer this year. I want to put some away for long term storage. I will fully dry it and then vacuum seal it.
It was raining hard in the morning and my water storage tanks filled up right away. My 275 gallon IBC tote was filled fast. I collected about 60 gallons or so in there within a short time.
I went out and switched over the rain gutters to pour the water into my reserve 40 gallon tank which filled up quickly.
I found a huge deal online with some 275 gallon water tanks. There is a place with about 45 of these large IBC totes and they want to get rid of them in bulk.
I am working a deal with them to get all of the tanks for my off grid homestead.
I would like to have at least 2,000 gallons of water for the off grid tiny house on wheels. And I would like to have a few more for my planned aquaponics system.
I hope to have a large aquaponics system set up which will provide me fish and greens all year around. I have been studying aquaponics for over a year now and am ready to begin.
But the IBC totes normally cost about $125 each around here and that would make the system very expensive for me.
I am working on a bulk deal to get every single tank delivered to my property.
I will use what I need and sell the rest online later.
I will put some water in a tank and let it sit for a while. Then I will send in a sample for testing to be sure the water is safe. It may even come up safe for drinking. Although I do not use my rain water collection system for drinking.
Because I was out on the road all day working on this deal I did not finish smoking the jerky. I put the meat in the freezer for now.
