Words : How does Scripture define wife, orphan, husband, etc

What false ideas do we import into Scripture and doctrine when we do not properly define words? What baggage do some words carry and convey that influence or direct our understanding of Biblical concepts and teaching? Like barnacles collecting on the hull of an oceanliner, false ideas that are attached to Scriptural doctrines begin to alter how we understand and rightly walk out Biblical truth.
