Processing Deer Meat Jerky & Mixed Off Grid Homestead Work

Today I am processing venison jerky. I am making my own deer meat jerky at the off grid homestead. Plus some new things arrived to The Off Grid Project.

It was a very dark and cloudy day today. The sun never even tried to show itself at all. It actually looked like sunset this morning when I started recording.

My neighbor showed up with three push mowers for me to clean up and sell in the Spring. I have a deal with him that I get any gas engine powered equipment that he finds. I fix them up and sell them when they are in season.

One of the push mowers is a self propelled Toro with a bag. I plan to use this one myself for the off grid homestead. This will help me in making my own compost for the garden. I have always wanted a bagging and mulching mower.

The other is a nice quality Troy-Bilt with a Honda engine on it. I will try to find an air filter cover and filter for it. I will have to brace up the wheels some due to wear on them.

The other mower is a Poulan and is worthless. I will keep it for parts only. The engine is nearly brand new looking but the rear wheel has broken off. This is very typical of the cheaper mowers these days. They only last a few seasons if you do not keep the underside of the mower decks clean each time you use them. Moisture builds up under there and rots the deck apart before its time.

I have two rototillers I plan to fix up and sell for Spring as well. These bring a nice price when they are in season.

I have been marinating my deer meat for about 30 hours. I kept stirring it up to make sure all the meat got flavored well.

I have made up my own recipes and am experimenting with different flavors. I will share my results with you on The Do It Yourself World articles pages when I am done processing the jerky and get feedback from my friends.

I brought in the grates to my large commercial sized smoker that I bought last year at TSC on clearance. I wanted to wash them up and put the meat on the grates to drip off a bit before they go in the smoker.

I received a package in the mail today from http://bit.ly/1UakmS5

Here is the direct link to the table: http://bit.ly/1M6lsYq

This is a really cool and light weight camping table. It folds down into a case about the size of your average folding camp chair. It is basically made in the same way and uses the same feet and rivets to hold it together. The top folds out over the frame giving you a very nice sized camp table.

This packs neatly away when not in use.

I will be using it out here at the off grid tiny house on wheels in the next days as an extra table as needed both indoors and out.

This will be a perfect addition to my Survival Bug Out Jeep as I stock it up with camping and survival gear.

I think that if you are careful with this table, you can make it last a lifetime.

I will be doing a full review and blog article on this after I am done testing it out.
