Spent The Day Fighting Damaging Winds On The Homestead

The wind has been devastating the past two days and nights. I am spending my time repairing damages and chasing down stuff that is blowing across the property.

It was a sunny day but very cold. My solar panels were pumping out the power into my off grid solar battery bank. The batteries were already on absorption mode at noon.

I turned on the inverter and my computer to see what would happen. Sure enough, the MPPT solar charge controller pulled even more power from the solar panels. This means that the batteries were nearly topped off and the MPPT solar charge controller was limiting the amount of power going into the batteries as needed.

I cooked up a nice lunch on the tiny house wood stove using free energy that I have there anyway. I heated up some noodles for lunch. It sure feels good to have this free energy source just waiting to be used.

In the afternoon unfortunately I spent my time chasing tents down which are being lifted up and carried into the forest. I had to manhandle the one tent back into place. Then gather up all the stuff that was scattered in the woods and put it all back inside.

Next I fastened the tent down with tie down straps. The original ropes had broken and let the tent take off like a parachute.

My wood shop tent has been shifted badly and I tried to straighten it up as well as possible.

Later I gathered up all the cured fire wood that I had left cut and split. I have a lot more wood in piles but none of it is cured or cut and split.

I have to get back out there and get more wood for heating my tiny house on wheels.

Most of the wood that I have is one or two years old. But I had cut the trees when the sap was flowing. So the wood is not yet cured.

I also have tons of barn wood to cut and burn. I will not go cold this winter. I just have to work at it now.
