Snowed & Iced In At The Off Grid Homestead

We had sleet all night which accumulated to about an inch or two and that turned into freezing rain. I am stuck at the off grid homestead until it melts.

I was out yesterday getting supplies so I would be prepared to bug in for a while. I have enough food, water and fuel to get by for a week in case I get trapped or if the ice breaks down the power lines in town. Often this happens and there are no groceries and no gas for a while. This is normal out here in the country and people just prepare for it.

Shopping took me nearly all day though. You have to drive to one town for one thing. Another town for something else. And yet another town for another thing. Towns out here are few and far apart. I took my neighbor with me and we simply made a day of it.

The storm started last night about 8 pm or so and kept going all night and into the day.

This morning it averaged between an inch and two inches of sleet piled up out here at the homestead.

This turned into rain though later on and just kept coming.

I had to sweep off the solar panels. Or rather shovel them off because the stuff was quite heavy and wet. I had no power coming into my tiny house on wheels at all until after I cleaned off the solar panels. Then I had about 20 watts coming on which is better than nothing on a dark and rainy day.

I do have about half a tank of rain water in my backup water tote now. That is about 150 gallons more water for my off grid tiny house on wheels.

I wanted to give you an update on what was going on so I got this video done fast.
